Shades of Spring

At least in our dreams, we’re seeing shades of spring. New arrivals are pouring in if only to excite a shelf in our closet (for now). Family <3

My sister and I are so incredibly grateful for everything that has come our way. Our little shop means the world to us and we feel so fortunate that you all love it as much as we do. THANK-you for that, from the deepest part of our hearts. Besides everything Bella, we are enjoying the start to summer! Olive just celebrated her THIRD(!!) birthday (while Emmet eagerly helped blow out her candles:), and Emmet is ecstatic to start soccer camp in two weeks. Emmet and Olive are the greatest of friends; they are bonded like siblings and sweet like best friends. They are the light of our lives and show us the true meaning of love and life everyday.

 

We’re so grateful we can raise our kids in the same town, together. If it weren’t for Bella Funk, we just might not be able to do that! It has anchored us down, right where we started. Sisters and best friends, raising cousins and best friends, in the best place on earth. Home.

 

So here’s to the love that best friends bring. Here’s to the strength of sisters. Of siblings. Of cousins. Here’s to growing old together. And following dreams. Here’s to having a special place in your heart to call home. And most important of all, here’s to family. ❤

Ladies, lets give ourselves a huge pat on the back for making it through this incredibly long, cold winter…it has been a tough one! We are so excited that today is March 1rst and signs of Spring are all around the store, at least.
We are a little in love with adding lots of color to our wardrobe these days to entice Spring to come a little sooner. Add it with scarves (our Printed Village collection is flying out the door these days!), jewelry, belts and bags. Trust me, it will make you smile a little brighter.
So time to shave those legs and apply a heavy dose of self tanner because summer styles are coming in daily! Our favorite Hudson shorts just came and are begging for the warmer days ahead. Have we mentioned we CAN’T WAIT?!!!

Clothing is an Art.

We had the honor of shooting the rare beauty, Carson Holmes, and dressing her up in some fabulous Bella Funk duds. (She was absolutely amazing, sweet, and beautiful!) Our velour Citizens of Humanity skinny’s in a rich shade of olive, make for a yummy addition to any wardrobe. Paired with Frye’s fabulous Jackie Gore Stitching Boot = success! Fall is our favorite time for wrapping up in cozy goodness……..and getting creative with it!

I love feeling inspired by a piece of clothing. When one small (yet very big) detail makes my heart flutter for a second or puts a rush of gittyness (I know, I made that word up;) in my step. It may sound silly- but it’s true. Clothing is an expression of who we are and where we’re going. Clothing is an art. And I, for one, truly enjoy the art of dressing. Free People in particular, is one of my favorite lines for expression. This sweater has all the right heart-fluttering details; side zippers, a perfectly floral floral print, and a cozy shape that hangs just right. And don’t get me going on denim. I am a denim nut- obsessed with every detail that goes into denim. I LOVE denim. These Citizens of Humanity Avedon Skinny’s in space are just perfectly worn in with a rich blue indigo wash and a fit that flatters every curve just SO. They are absolutely amazing. My most recent customer experience with these particular jeans happened like this: Customer comes out of dressing room ranting (or more likely- chanting) these words: “Now I get it, now I get it, NOW I GET IT!” Totally true story! And at that moment, I too, had my moment of heart fluttering gittyness (and a little bit of pride), for helping this sweet, beautiful woman into her first pair of designer jeans. Wooohoooo!

Summer time and the living’s easy

Ahhh sweet summer days…we love them dearly. The chance to wear all those amazing dresses, flowy tanks, (short) shorts and sandals that show off pretty manicured toes. We hope these sunny, warm days that make you feel good inside and out, are here to stay!  Our favorite dresses from LA Made, Free People, Ya Los Angeles and Lilla P have been big hits this summer so stop in and see what the fuss is all about!! Good bye Lincoln

This May we have closed the doors on our Lincoln location…it was a bit of a roller coaster ride, had it’s very high moments and also very low (just meaning very, very quiet). Lincoln, NH is a sweet, little ski town and when it’s busy it’s busy. So busy, in fact. that you are grateful that you know the back roads to escape the back to back traffic, and lucky if you do not have to get any last minute grocery items. The town gets crazy.  When the snow is falling, the people come in flocks and fill the town right up.  I will miss the women in ski boots easily browsing the store, as if we were located directly off the slopes.  We don’t see that too often in our Littleton shop 🙂

It would have been 5 years this June (!!) and it really was a fun ride. We have met a lot of amazing people and gained some very wonderful customers.  We thank everyone who supported us there from the bottom of our hearts. We will miss the town, the familiar faces and the charm of it all, but are very excited to be back to our roots here in Littleton.  Our inventory is now doubled and we can focus on being the go-to for sizes, styles and prices that everyone needs and loves.

Come together

This time of the year is always such a reminder of what a great local community we live in. It is a time when everyone that walks through the door is a friend, acquaintance or a local customer and it makes us love being a part of our beautiful main street even more. We truly appreciate you all 🙂

We also appreciate all of our amazing local artists. They continue to amaze us with their talent and we are so proud to carry them all. Our newest artist, Eclecticafinch by Mina Flateau, has a vintage vibe that we love and are sure you will, too. Stop by our Littleton location and check it out!

Little ones

Some days we are “forced” to bring our little ones to work with us. It all starts with setting up pack-n-plays and nursing in the dressing room, to chasing after a two year old who’s trying on sunglasses and Frye boots. If only I had known how easy and “do-able” the first stages were, I would’ve had the sweet company of my beautiful baby boy by my (Bella Funk) side more often. Today when Emmet joins me at the shop, he’s running the register, shoveling up “snow” (a.k.a. anything he can find to put in his shovel…clothing, candles, shoes, accessories;), and roaring over large trucks with “manny” in the window. I’m sure if I blink for a second, I’ll see a four year old reeking even more havoc in my shop and wish I had soaked up the sweetness of these two year old years while they lasted. Life flies by quicker then ever with little ones. They are the root of our heart, our soul, our being. If ever we could live in the moment, let’s do it now, and embrace the sweet nonsense they might happen to bring; it is something we will long for in years to come. ❤

 

 

Hudson Set Sail

I still remember the big day- grand opening day when we first opened our doors. That day, (besides the endless knots in my stomach), I remember selling the very first pair of Hudson jeans on Main Street in Littleton, NH. It was beating the odds of what everyone had said about selling $200 jeans in our neck of the woods. “It’s not going to work, period”, or “we’ve already tried it, don’t bother”. My sister and I (usually) smiled nicely at every negative remark that came our way before our big opening, but in the depths of our 20 year old minds, thought to ourselves: “oh how we’ll prove them wrong” in only the nicest way possible, of course:) I strongly believe that with enough passion and drive you can “prove anyone wrong”, even yourself when you need to. Creating a business from scratch is more about your heart than the numbers. It’s only going to work if your heart takes up 95% of the recipe, and we’ll leave the rest for the numbers. If only banks knew that. So here’s to you….where is your heart? What is your passion? There’s an incredible amount of horsepower beneath that passion; all it takes is uncovering and letting it set sail.

Looking forward

This time of the year is all about looking forward…we look forward to shedding all our layers and wearing pieces that are light and airy. We look forward to flowers, sunshine and warm days. In the meantime we can pretend they are here with floral prints, pretty pastel colors and cropped denim that lets us expose an ankle (gasp!) for now.

Our favorite denim these days are Citizens of Humanity. The washes are as perfect as the fit is. Their high rise styles (still below the belly button 🙂 are so comfortable and they make you feel incredible. Isn’t that what a $200 jean is supposed to do? We think so.

Pair them with a cute loafer (our White Mountain loafers are on SALE right now!! 😉 a pretty, but warm, top and a scarf and you’re good to go!
